“Death Race” (2008) is a dystopian action film set in a future where prisons organize deadly car races for entertainment. Jensen Ames, played by Jason Statham, is a former race car driver framed for his wife’s murder and sent to Terminal Island Penitentiary.

The warden, Hennessey (Joan Allen), forces Ames to take the place of a deceased driver in the brutal Death Race. The race is broadcast to pay-per-view audiences, and prisoners compete for their freedom by winning multiple races. Ames navigates treacherous competitors and lethal traps in a bid for survival and redemption.
